We are so proud to present the work of Thomas Greenslade from Mamprobi, Accra, Ghana in West Africa for Emerge the Artist 2015, September 19 at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Jackson, Michigan (USA)! A strong supporter of creativity in our community, we must thank Edwin Payne of Jackson for connecting is with Thomas! Edwin is originally from Liberia and now lives in Jackson.
“Thomas Laurence Greenslade is of a Brazilian descent but Ghanaian, an Art Expressionist / Entrepreneur, born with an innate understanding of the human nature and gifted with a sharp intuition and keen analytical skills.. I simply get complex without attention, introspective, prophetic, philosophical, soul searching and sometimes critical and opinionated,
I do have a unique way of thinking and an eventful and exciting life..an intellect and practical with an appreciation of beauty in all forms.”
” I mainly use marker and pen for my medium, giving my work a sense of modernism. The finality of each permanent line is something that I find very stimulating as an artist, and it tends to evoke a more poignant and almost-graphic outcome in my work. This series is a mixture of realism and surrealism, adding an element of surprise and sometimes grotesqueness to my current portrait work.”
Audra Olivia is a local artist with a love for all things weird and wonderful. Her whimsical paintings are full of strange creatures and charming monsters, aliens and space crafts, pet portraits and vintage lithograph re-vamps. Each piece is painted with love and a touch of retro flare! Find her at comic/pop-culture-cons and on FB at Audra Olivias Attic.
“If one examines predialectic cultural theory, one is faced with a choice: either reject social realism or conclude that society, perhaps ironically, has objective value, but only if Foucault’s critique of semanticist narrative is invalid. Predialectic cultural theory implies that art may be used to exploit the underprivileged. In a sense, the characteristic theme of the works of Smith is not discourse, but subdiscourse.”

“Inspiring me as an artist is the world surrounding me, the noises we make, the air we breathe, and the love we feel. Much emotion flows through each piece I start and finish. There are so many trials that the human condition encapsulates all of which can be expressed through the creation of ART. This is my goal. To recreate life with my hands and share my results with the world.”
